Oh yeah!!
Okay, so I disapperaed for a while. Had an exquisitly enjoyable weekend spent working on my costume for the party. Got up at ten on Saturday to go get all the supplies, and spent all day today and yesterday working on it. Here's the sum of yesterday's work.
So, I started off with the ears, because I had the best idea of how to do them, and I was excited. Cut them out of felt from my template. I tried it another way first, but it totally flubbed, so yeah. Really gald I bought extra in the felt, else I'd've been stuck.
Then I sewed the two halves together and turned them inside out. Here's the both of them. I ironed them too, since they were looking kinda puffy, and ears are anything but that.
Mesh skeleton inside. Deathly hard to get the stupid things in there. Ah well. Trial and error.
Then I cut a template out of an old sponge and shoved it inside the ear, stitching it up so that I had a hollow to stuff later. This was fun. The sponge smelled like chlorine.
Then I pulled the sponge liner out and stuffed it with polyfil. See that fluffy stuff. I love polyfil. It feels like meat when you squish it.
And then I sewed them on the headband. Fancy, no?
Matt wanted to help. He couldn't sew so I told him to model the ears for me.
Darn photogenic boy. Wish I was like that.
So, after the ears were done, I wore them all day while I did the rest of the stuff. Here we're starting the feet off. Remove the laces of some shoes I never wear...
...and hot glue the tongue in place. One of them broke off when I shoved my foot inside, though. I'll have to fix that later.
Then for the foam. We have this stupid foam matress in the basement that we never use, so I hacked some of it off.
See the polyfil there!!! Squishy!! Anyway, let me tell you, carving toes with sissors kills you hand. Especially when they're left handed sissors. Hot glued the toes on.
All finished. Now for the felting.
Gosh, I hated doing the felt. It looked bad. I almost want to try it with fur to see how much better it turns out. Not for Ash, though.
All done. My hand hurt so bad!!
I didn't log the hands cuz I forgot. They were more fun to do. Trace your hand really big and then sew it up. Ash has three fingers, so it looks cool. Stuffed the fingers with polyfil. So squishy!!
And that's all the pictures I have right now. I'm done with the other hand and the bodysuit. Just gotta finish the clothes and put on the finishing touches, but yay!!!
I hope I'm done by Wednesday so that I can wear it to class.
